"Price?" is the most common comment on Indian product reels. And "price in DM" or "DM'd you" is the most common reply, often hours later. By then the buyer has bought something else. Here is how to answer every price question in seconds without being online.
Why "price in DM" hurts
- Delay. The buyer asked while interested. An answer three hours later meets a different mood.
- Uncertainty. If you write "check DM" but the DM comes later, the buyer finds nothing and leaves.
- Volume. On a good reel, you cannot keep up, and some people never get an answer.
Should you just put the price in the caption?
Sometimes, yes. If you sell one product per post and the price is fixed, putting it in the caption is honest and fast. Many sellers prefer the DM because:
- Prices vary by size or set
- The DM can carry a link to order
- Comments signal interest, which can help reach
- The DM starts a conversation in the buyer's inbox
Both are fine. If you use DMs, make them instant.
Setting up automatic price replies
- Keywords:
price, rate, kitna, kitne, cost, prize, details, how much - Scope: every post for a catch-all, plus specific automations on product reels
- Public reply variations:
- "Price sent in DM 😊"
- "Check your DMs, details bhej di hain"
- "Sent! Look in message requests if you don't see it"
- The DM:
Hi {name}! This set is ₹2,199 including shipping. Available in S to XXL, 4 colours. Tap below to order on WhatsApp.
[Order now]
If one automation covers all posts, send the catalogue instead:
Hi {name}! All our designs with prices are in this catalogue. Tell us the design number on WhatsApp to order.
[See catalogue]
Include what buyers ask next
Answer the second question in the first message:
- COD available?
- Delivery time?
- Sizes?
- Return or exchange?
One line covering these saves a back-and-forth.
Product-specific automations beat one catch-all
A DM with "this set is ₹2,199" converts better than "see our catalogue". For your top reels, create an automation per reel with its exact price and link. In DM Flow, the reel-specific automation takes priority over the catch-all. See one post or every post.
Measure the change
Before and after automating, compare for similar reels:
- Orders per 100 price comments
- Time from comment to order
Pay special attention to late-night comments, which used to wait until morning.
Frequently asked questions
Will competitors comment "price" to see my prices?
They can, as they could before. Prices are not secret from someone who asks.
What if prices change often?
Link to a catalogue or product page you update, rather than typing prices in the DM.
Can I reply in Hindi?
Yes. Write the DM in whatever language your buyers use.
What about bulk or wholesale price requests?
Add a keyword like wholesale with its own automation that sends your wholesale contact.
