What comment-to-DM automation does
Comment-to-DM automation sends a private message to every person who comments a chosen keyword on your Instagram post or reel. With DM Flow you pick the post, type the keywords (for example price, link, details), write the message and add your link. From then on, every matching comment gets a DM within seconds, on Meta's official Instagram API.
It replaces the hours you spend typing "check DM" and pasting the same link, and it catches the buyers who comment at midnight and move on by morning.
How it works in DM Flow
- Connect Instagram with Instagram's own login. You approve DM Flow on Instagram; we never see your password.
- Pick the post or reel the automation should watch, or choose every post on paid plans.
- Add keywords, up to 20 per automation. Matching ignores capital letters and finds the word anywhere in the comment, so "Price pls?" matches
price. Emoji keywords like 🔥 work too, or choose any comment. - Write the opening DM with a button such as "Send me the link". Instagram allows one message per comment, so the button lets the person reply and open the conversation. You can also skip it and send the link in the very first message.
- Add the link message: your product, catalogue, booking form, coupon or WhatsApp link.
- Go live. Every reply is logged, and each person who comments is saved to your contacts.

Frequently asked questions
Is comment-to-DM automation allowed by Instagram?
Yes. Meta's official Instagram API includes "private replies", which let a business send one message to someone who commented, within 7 days of the comment. DM Flow uses exactly that. Read Instagram private replies explained.
Do I need a business account?
You need an Instagram professional account: Business or Creator. Switching is free in Instagram settings.
How fast is the DM sent?
Usually within a few seconds of the comment, as soon as Instagram notifies DM Flow.
Can one post have several automations?
Yes. For example price can send the price list and size can send the size chart, from the same reel.
What happens if someone comments twice?
Each comment is handled exactly once, so a delayed or repeated notification from Instagram never sends the same DM twice. A new comment from the same person later counts as a new request and gets the message again.
Can the DM use the person's name?
Yes. Write {name} in your message and DM Flow fills in their Instagram username.
