A $15 plan sounds like about ₹1,250. In practice, Indian sellers often pay noticeably more, and sometimes lose service when a renewal fails. Here is where the difference comes from.
1. Foreign currency markup
Most Indian debit and credit cards add a foreign currency markup, commonly a few percent of the transaction, plus GST on that markup. Some premium cards have lower markups. Check your card's schedule of charges.
2. GST on imported services
Foreign digital services sold to Indian customers attract 18% GST. Depending on how the seller is registered, it may be added at checkout or charged in another way. Either way, budget for it.
3. The exchange rate
Your rupee cost changes every month with the exchange rate. Over a year, this can move the cost up or down by several percent.
4. Failed recurring payments
RBI rules on recurring card payments require mandates and additional authentication for many recurring transactions. International subscriptions sometimes fail at renewal, and some tools pause your automations until payment succeeds. The middle of a festive sale is a bad time to find out.
5. Invoices your accountant can use
A rupee invoice from an Indian business with GST details is simpler for your books than a foreign receipt.

What to do
- Convert the dollar price at today's rate, add your card's markup and GST, then compare.
- Prefer plans you renew deliberately over auto-debit if failed payments are a risk for you.
- Ask for a GST invoice.
DM Flow bills in rupees through Razorpay (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets), with no auto-debit and an invoice for every payment. See pricing.
