Setting up a new automation for every reel gets old fast, and the day you forget is the day a reel goes viral. The fix is an every-post automation: one automation that watches all your posts, including the ones you publish next week.
How every-post automation works
Instead of choosing one post, you choose "any post". From then on, any comment on any of your posts that matches your keywords gets the DM. New posts are covered the moment they go live; there is nothing to set up after publishing.
In DM Flow, every-post automations are available on paid plans.
Pick a general keyword
Because one automation covers everything, its keyword and message should be general:
- Keyword:
link, detailsorinfo - Message: a link to your shop, catalogue or link-in-bio page, not one specific product
Mix it with post-specific automations
For a launch or a big product reel, add a specific automation on that post with its own keyword and link. When a comment matches both, the specific automation wins. So you can have:
- Every post:
link→ your main shop - Diwali reel:
diwali→ the festive collection with a code - Recipe reel:
recipe→ that recipe's PDF
Say the keyword in every reel
The automation only works if people know what to comment. End each reel with the same line: "Comment LINK and I'll DM you." Over time your audience learns it.

Frequently asked questions
Will an every-post automation reply to old comments?
No. It answers new comments from the moment it is switched on.
Can I exclude one post?
Give that post its own specific automation, or use a keyword in that reel that the every-post automation does not use.
Does it work on posts I schedule from Meta Business Suite?
Yes. Once the post is published on Instagram, the automation watches it like any other post.
