Search "Instagram auto DM app" on the Play Store and you will find dozens of apps promising to DM your followers automatically. Most of them are the kind that get accounts blocked. The tools that work safely are not phone apps at all. Here is why, and how to run auto DMs from your phone anyway.
Why safe auto DM tools are not phone apps
Instagram allows automatic DMs only through Meta's official API, and only as replies to people who contacted you first, for example by commenting your keyword. That API is used by software running on a server, which listens for new comments day and night and replies within seconds.
A phone app cannot do this properly. Your phone sleeps, loses network and closes apps in the background. So apps that claim to auto DM from your phone usually do one of two things:
- Log in with your Instagram password and tap buttons for you, like a robot. Instagram detects this and can block your actions or your account.
- Send cold DMs to followers or likers, which Instagram does not allow.
If an app asks for your Instagram password, do not use it. More on this in official API vs bots.
The safe setup: a web tool you control from your phone
A proper auto DM for Instagram tool runs on its own servers. You only use your phone to set it up and check results.
With DM Flow:
- Open thedmflow.com in your phone's browser and sign up free.
- Connect Instagram with Instagram's own login (no password shared with us).
- Create an automation: post, keywords, DM.
- Optional: add DM Flow to your home screen from the browser menu, so it opens like an app.
After that, DMs go out even when your phone is off. You can check new contacts and the activity log from your phone any time.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an official Instagram auto DM app?
Instagram itself does not have an "auto DM commenters" setting. It offers the feature to approved tools through Meta's API. You use such a tool from a browser on your phone or laptop.
Can I use DM Flow on my phone?
Yes. DM Flow works in your phone's browser, and you can add it to your home screen. The automations run on our servers, so your phone does not need to stay on.
Are auto DM apps from the Play Store safe?
Many are not, especially those that ask for your password or promise to DM followers. Use a tool that connects through Instagram's official login.
Will auto DMs stop if I log out of Instagram on my phone?
No. The connection is between the tool and Instagram's API, not your phone. It stops only if you disconnect the tool or Instagram asks you to reconnect.
