Most comment-to-DM plans include a set number of DMs per month. When you reach it, new comments stop getting DMs until the next month or until you upgrade.
What happens in DM Flow
- New matching comments are saved, not lost. The activity log marks each one "Limit reached, saved".
- You get one email telling you the limit was reached.
- Upgrade, and the saved comments get their DMs within a couple of minutes, oldest first.
- If you do not upgrade, they go out automatically when your new month starts.
- Instagram allows a DM reply only within 7 days of a comment. Saved comments older than that cannot be answered automatically, and the activity log says so.
- Your dashboard shows DMs used this month and how many comments are waiting.
Two different limits
| Limit | Set by | Resets |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly DMs on your plan | Your tool's plan | Every month |
| Messages per hour | Instagram's safe pace | Every hour |
The hourly pace protects your account during viral spikes. The monthly limit is about your plan.
See it coming
- Check usage after any reel that is taking off.
- Expect a viral reel to use thousands of DMs in a day or two.
- If you post "comment for the link" reels often, pick a plan with headroom.
Choosing the right plan
Count your matching comments on a normal week and multiply by four, then add a buffer for a viral week. DM Flow's free plan includes 200 DMs a month; paid plans start at ₹999 a month with more. See pricing.
